KW Fireside Gathering 15 for Hearthstone

KW Fireside Gathering #15

Thanks to all that came out for our fifteenth Fireside Gathering that was also an official Tavern Hero Qualifier! There was over 25 people in attendance which is great, but of course more are always welcome! A special thanks to my volunteer assistants for their generous help to make our Fireside Gatherings run smoothly. Thanks for using the Challonge online bracket system so we can easily show Blizzard the details of our Winter Tavern Hero Qualifier, and I am very glad we met the minimum of 16 participants for the Tavern Hero Qualifier, thanks for your participation and support!

09Feb2017 ** Our Tavern Hero Qualifier Iclimbrocks now appears on official Blizzard list **

17Feb2017 ** First update from Iclimbrocks while at the Winter Tavern Hero tournament: "Lost first game 3-2. Came down to a renolock mirror my Reno got dirty ratted and that was that. Waiting on the losers bracket now." **

17Feb2017 ** Final update from Iclimbrocks while at the Winter Tavern Hero tournament: "I ended up winning my next match in the losers bracket 3-2 followed by another win 3-0. I then lost 3-2, again in a renolock mirror ending my tournament. It was fun and hopefully I will get another chance." **

A huge thank-you to Iclimbrocks for arranging time and transportation to Toronto for this tournament! Thanks for representing our local group! Hope you get the very cool animated PowerCore card back which is only given to players that compete in an official Blizzard-run competition.

Prizes for Competitive Bracket

The Tavern Hero Qualifier first place was won by Iclimbrocks, who was able to defeat a tenacious BlaseBlase91, and can now go on to represent our local Fireside Gathering group at the next regional Tavern Hero tournament likely to take place in Toronto! Both players were rewarded with an item choice from amongst the official Blizzard Hearthstone merchandise we had purchased as prizes. Honourable mentions go to Dicemaster and HAHA. Full results are viewable at the bracket registration page:

 Tavern Hero Qualifier rules

You MUST be physically present at the event to participate. All players in the Tavern Hero Qualifier must register their full account name and list of three heroes on our Challonge bracket. Conquest format is required, where you use a Standard deck from 3 different Heroes, and you must use these same 3 decks throughout the entire competition. Please arrive with ample time so that all players can indicate on Challonge they are ready (Check-In), we can then do the bracket seeding (randomization), and start the competition on time at 1:30pm. Keep in mind that if you are late it is not possible to join once the bracket has commenced. After each match, the results are updated on the Challonge bracket. The winner will be able to represent our local group at the upcoming Winter Tavern Hero tournament (in various cities, likely one will be in Toronto) which will take place the day before the Winter Preliminary begins, and the top 8 players will then be crowned Tavern Heroes. These players will join the top 64 competitors from the point standings to do battle in the Americas Winter Preliminary for one of eight spots in the Americas Winter Championship for glory and significant cash prizes!

Everyone is invited to participate. We must have a minimum of 16 players in the bracket for our winner to be officially recognized, so please feel free to participate even if you don't think you have a good chance of winning. It is a fun process regardless of where you place! Blizzard official rules have a player age restriction of 13 years or older, provided that player under 18 obtain signed permission from their parent/guardian.
