KW Fireside Gathering #27Thanks to all that came out for our twenty-seventh Fireside Gathering back at our old venue of The Tannery to play the current month Fireside Brawl and do the Deckbuilding Challenge! There were 13 people in attendance. Special thanks to my assistants and the greeter in the lobby dressed in her Tavern outfit.
Fireside Brawl and Prizes
This month's Fireside Brawl was called Hall of Champions. There was also quite a few participants in the Deckbuilding Challenge which was a lot of fun including much vigorous debate over which cards have artwork containing a beard (Patches, Garrison Commander, and whether Draenei tentacles count as beards, to name a few)! For all games, including casual play, Fireside Brawl, and Deckbuilding Challenge, the winning player took the candle from the other player, who then replenished their candle. After acquiring 4 candles they could be traded in for a ticket towards the large prize draws. Some new patrons also had fun completing the Boss Challenge quiz where they had to try and identify the hero power or special ability from the flavor text that appears in the game just before you battle a boss. There were 2 large prize draws done for items acquired from the Blizzard store, and 5 medium prize draws at the end of the evening for interesting artisan crafted items related to Hearthstone. Congratulations to the lucky prize winners!
We welcome one and all to come out and have a great time with the January Fireside Brawl, unlocking the new Warlock hero portrait, completing Tavern Quests, trying your luck in the prize draws, and other rousing Hearthstone-related activities. This month's Fireside Brawl takes us back to the past, where you can play with the decks from Hearthstone World Champions Firebat, Ostkaka, and Pavel exactly as they were in 2014, 2015, and 2016!
We will also have available a Deckbuilding Challenge (invented and graciously shared by another Innkeeper) where you and 3 others will play a mini-tournament. You will each draw a random deckbuilding challenge card from the stack of 36 (see link below for the full list), then discover which hero you will be playing (draw 3 from the deck of 9 and choose 1), construct your deck for 10 minutes following the rules dictated by the challenge card you drew, then play matches against the other 3 players (single game match or best 2 out of 3, whatever your group decides).

There will be handouts of the event activities and our Tavern Quest sheet. Please note: Your device (laptop, tablet, phone) must have location awareness enabled for Hearthstone to detect that you are present at the Mana and Mettle Tavern via cellular data plan or our free WiFi service in order to access the Fireside Brawl.
If you need to earn the Fireside Gathering cardback or just want to play casual games for fun, simply challenge someone in the Nearby Players list or the Fireside Players list if they aren't busy. We also have interesting little Tavern Quests you can work on to collect tokens which can be redeemed for a nice reward, and be sure to sign our Guest Log book!
We have prepared some handout sheets. Printed copies will also be available at the Fireside Gathering.
