KW Fireside Gathering 28.5 for Hearthstone

KW Fireside Gathering #28.5

Thanks to all that came out for our Season 1 Tavern Hero Qualifier tournament! Special thanks to my assistants Devin, Rob, and Owen for helping the event to run smoothly.

There were 25 people in attendance with 20 participating in the tournament bracket. There were 5 rounds of Swiss followed by a single-elimination bracket of the Top 8 from the Swiss bracket standings. Many thanks to all who came to participate, and glad you enjoyed the side activities such as Tavern Quests and the Boss Dungeon Challenge. The results are available at Season 1 Tavern Hero Qualifier Tournament webpage.

There were 2 large prizes awarded to the top players Pandaboy and 0xornotor for items acquired from the Blizzard store, and 7 medium prize draws at the end of the evening for interesting artisan crafted items related to Hearthstone. Congratulations to 0xornotor for acheiving second place, and all the other prize winners!

As the top place winner, Pandaboy will go on to compete on March 24 and 25 at the Challenger Finals where he will battle against other Tavern Hero Qualifier winners as well as Challenger Cup winners such as our own BlaseBlase who recently came in first against over 60 other players in an online Challenger Cup. Well Played, and good luck to both of you!

Tavern Hero Qualifier Tournament:

Well met! Come test your mettle in a Tavern Hero Qualifier tournament against 16 or more players, with the winner going on to compete in the regional seasonal Challenger Finals! The tournament will be played Conquest style, best-of-three, with a single ban. We plan to run the bracket as a few rounds of Swiss format followed by a single-elimination playoff of the top 4 players. This ensure that everyone plays multiple matches until the elimination stage.

You MUST be physically present at the event to participate and please plan to be onsite by 1:00pm. Please arrive with ample time so that all players can indicate on Battlefy they are ready (checked-in), we can then do the bracket seeding (randomization), and start the competition on time at 1:30pm. Keep in mind that if you are late it is not possible to join once the tournament bracket has commenced.

This tournament is free to participate and open to all eligible participants aged 13 years or older, with the following exceptions: a) players who have qualified for a Seasonal Playoff in the past three HCT Seasons are ineligible b) players who are formally recognized as Hearthstone Masters are ineligible.

Feel free to participate in the Tavern Hero Qualifier even if you don't think you have a good chance of winning. It is a fun process regardless of where you place! All are welcome, so please drop in even if you just want to do some fun activities such as the monthly Fireside Brawl, our Tavern Quests, casual play, sign our log book, or say hello!

There will be handouts of the event activities and our Tavern Quest sheet. Please note: Your device (laptop, tablet, phone) must have location awareness enabled for Hearthstone to detect that you are present at the Mana and Mettle Tavern via cellular data plan or our free WiFi service in order to access the Fireside Brawl.

Blizzard requires the tournament to be managed using specific online tools and we have selected Battlefy. To register please create an an account on Battlefy and visit our Season 1 Tavern Hero Qualifier Tournament registration webpage. Note: you can adjust your 3 class choices up until check-in has occurred.
